GeorgieI'm here to shed light on some phrases to use with the word 'light'. If you shed light on something, you give more information about it to make it easier to understand. The X-ray scan shed light on the causes of his back pain. If you see the light, you finally understand something you didn't before and change your attitude or behaviour. Grandma has resisted buying a mobile phone for years, but she's finally seen the light and now we can have weekly video calls! A light at the end of the tunnel is an idiom meaning there's hope after a period of difficulty. After four years of financial hardship, she could finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. And finally, if you are out like a light, it means you fall asleep instantly. I just put the baby to bed and he was out like a light he must've been exhausted!
